WordPress
WordPress development for UK businesses.
MTX Studio designs, builds and looks after WordPress websites for businesses across the UK. The work is led by Theodoros Mentis, who has been building with WordPress and PHP for more than 18 years, so you talk to the person doing the work, not an account manager.
We take on new builds, sites another developer has left behind, and sites that are slow, insecure or hard to edit. If WordPress is the wrong tool for what you need, we will tell you that too. We are a Manchester-based studio and work remotely with clients across the UK, by Zoom and email.
What we do
| Service | What it covers |
|---|---|
| WordPress design and build | Custom themes built for your content and brand, not a bought theme with your logo on it. Editing set up so your team can update pages without breaking the layout. |
| Support and maintenance | Updates twice a month depending on the plan, automated backups kept for three months, uptime and security monitoring, small changes and fixes, and a plain report of what we did. |
| Takeovers and rescues | An audit of a site you inherited: access, hosting, plugins, theme, backups and known problems, with a list of what to fix first. Hacked sites cleaned up and hardened so it does not happen again. |
| Speed and security work | Finding what slows the site down or exposes it, and fixing the causes rather than adding another plugin. PHP version upgrades handled and tested. |
| Migrations | Moving sites between hosts, domains or platforms with redirects mapped so search traffic is protected. |
| WooCommerce | Building and supporting WooCommerce shops, including payments and stock. |
| Hosting (optional) | Managed hosting on SiteGround, set up and looked after by us. You can also keep your own host. |
Is WordPress the right choice?
WordPress suits most business websites where a team needs to edit content often, wants a large choice of integrations, and values being able to hire help from many developers in future. It is less suited to sites with heavy custom application logic or very strict performance targets, where we often recommend Next.js instead. We build both, so the recommendation is not driven by what we happen to sell.
| You probably want WordPress if | You might want Next.js if |
|---|---|
| Your team edits pages, posts and landing pages every week | Content changes rarely, or comes from another system |
| You need common features such as forms, bookings or a shop with well-known plugins | You need custom features that plugins would only partly cover |
| You want the widest pool of developers who could support the site later | You have, or want, a development partner for the long term |
| You are happy with good performance and careful upkeep | Speed is a competitive edge and worth extra build effort |
How our WordPress support works
- Audit. We review the site, hosting, plugins and access, and agree what matters most to you.
- Stabilise. We fix anything urgent, remove what is not needed, and set up backups and monitoring.
- Maintain. Updates, backups, monitoring and small changes on a regular schedule. We test updates on a staging copy or take a full backup first.
- Improve. We suggest changes that make the site faster, easier to use or better at bringing in enquiries.
What support includes
| Included | How we do it |
|---|---|
| Core, theme and plugin updates | Applied twice a month, depending on the plan. We test updates on a staging copy or take a full backup first. Urgent security fixes go on sooner |
| Backups | Automated and kept for three months |
| Uptime monitoring | Alerts come to us, not to you |
| Security | Monitoring, hardening, admin account review, and clean-up if something gets through |
| Fixes and small changes | Included with a support package |
| Response | Response times agreed per support plan, with urgent problems prioritised |
| Reporting | A short report of what changed and anything we think you should know |
Larger pieces of work, such as new sections, redesigns or integrations, are quoted separately so the support plan stays predictable.
Sites we did not build
We regularly take over WordPress sites built by someone else. We start by reviewing the site so we both know what we are taking on: who has access, where the site is hosted, what the plugins do, whether backups exist, and what is likely to break. We talk you through what we find and agree what happens next.
Hosting
Hosting is optional. Where it makes sense we offer hosting on SiteGround. We chose it because in our experience it has been reliable, stable and secure, and its support has been outstanding when we have needed it. We handle the setup, migration and upkeep. If you prefer your own host, we work with that. We do not earn a commission for recommending SiteGround.
Selected work
| Project | What we built |
|---|---|
| Stoney Holiday Lets | A WordPress site for The Lodge and The Nook at Stoney Stretton Hall in Shropshire, built with Elementor, with property-led pages, an availability search and booking calls to action |
| Stoney Stretton Physiotherapy | A WordPress site for a physiotherapy practice near Shrewsbury, with dedicated service pages, FAQs and clear routes to contact the clinic |
Before MTX, Theodoros spent eight years as lead developer at Greekonline, looking after more than 200 business websites.
